ARTIST STATEMENT

My art comes from my swirling subconscious; a collection of ideas emerging from my cluttered and foggy brain. As I put my pen to paper, the universe I inhabit comes clearer. Thoughts become sketches and scenes: nature, characters, ideas greater than myself. Cosmic goop becomes lines on a page, shaping the uncertainty of my inner world into tangible expressions of myself.

I create stories through moments captured in time.

The page of a sketchbook.

The panel of a comic.

Blending the technique of traditional pen and ink illustration with brush pens and color, my visions are translated to the page. The permanence of the ink contrasts the infinite impermanence of the idea itself.

A fleeting thought becomes something concrete.

VISUAL ART

Since childhood, Davis has loved to draw. Doodling on the side of notebooks in school, it was not until early adulthood that he decided to pursue visual art more formally. Finding inspiration from Japanese manga and anime styles, Davis has created several self-produced comics and commissioned works for local bands, musicians, and authors. He is currently the branding artist for Lancaster indie band Stillflow and has created custom album covers for five albums to date.
